Emulation of high-end vintage and modern day sound processors. Firstly, does the absence of a screen bother you and, secondly, can you live with only half of the processing power? That’s the bad news. Hopefully focusrite revisits this product in the future with a more modern, kink free unit. Whichever Liquid Mix you choose, you won’t be disappointed – it’s a dynamics and EQ solution that remains a class apart. In much the same way that convolution reverb provides sampled algorithms of ‘real spaces’, so dynamic convolution ‘samples’ and models dynamics and EQ processors to provide a set of tools which can also be applied at will. In keeping with its name, Liquid Mix 16 is limited to a standard 16 channels of EQ and compression processing, although this is expandable to 24 via an optional expansion card.

You can do exactly this, either by selecting a ‘global’ EQ focuarite the board or by piecing together a hybrid EQ solution one band at a time. FireWire control surface with dedicated DSP 16 channels of Liquid Mix compression and Mic run off the dedicated DSP The physical metering, rotary controls and buttons on the hardware help to provide a tactile experience Each channel appears as, and acts exactly like a plug-in with the controls of each compressor and EQ identical to those of the originals.
Enter new lkquid code to refresh estimated delivery time. Additionally, the Liquid Mix 16 processes audio at up to a maximum sampling rate of 96kHz, while the Liquid Mix will function up to kHz. Liquid mix is so nice!
Each of these processes models a specific compressor or EQ via the Dynamic Convolution technology, but rather than simply offering ‘copies’ of the original gear which would be great anywayLiquid Mix allows for ‘extended’ processing. Write a review cysczbaqfbtwttxxerbczdbscffrwrrtfysus. It’s great to be able to keep things fresh with alternative compression and EQ models too and, as switching these in and out is so simple, Liquid Mix really encourages a bold, creative ,iquid to work.
There’s no disputing the quality of Liquid Mix. Across the board the compressors hold up to other DAW plugins. As standard, half of the processing power is gone.
Housed in a desktop control surface with its own DSP, the system is connected to a computer via FireWire. The main difference between the Liquid Mix 16 and the Liquid Mix is the number of channels each provides at various sample rates. In much the same way that convolution reverb provides sampled algorithms of ‘real spaces’, so dynamic convolution ‘samples’ and models dynamics and EQ processors to provide a set of tools which can also be applied at gocusrite.
Firstly, does the absence of a screen bother you and, secondly, can you live with only half of the processing power? Who knows how accurate they mjx compared with the real units. The EQ’s on the other hand didn’t impress me very much. So, what else is different? Whichever Liquid Mix you choose, you won’t be disappointed – it’s a dynamics and EQ solution that remains a class apart.
It works great and sounds great.
Similarly, the EQ algorithms can be applied one band at a time, so if you want the sound of a classic ’60s British EQ on the top-end of your mix but want something smoother to round out the lower frequencies, no problem. While the screen dedicated to showing your compression and EQ settings is gone, the metering remains as before.
In keeping with its name, Liquid Mix 16 is limited to a standard 16 channels of EQ and compression processing, although this is expandable to 24 via an optional expansion card.
The included external power supply can be utilized in the event that the computer has only a four-pin FireWire connector An optional DSP expansion card is available to increase the maximum channel count at higher sample rates. So sonically, this box is absolutely a match for its big brother.
Be the first to review this item. However, if the “FREE” button is active then the compressor emulation will have all possible available controls with full ranges accessible for use The users can build their own EQs using all of the available seven mox on a single Liquid Mix channel.
Will you really miss the screen? The compressors are what makes this unit really worth the money. Instead, if you’re pondering a purchase, you’ve got a simple couple of decisions to make.
Focusrite Liquid Mix 16 – FireWire DSP Processor LIQUID MIX 16
Our Verdict Focusrite’s Liquid Mix technology at a knockdown price – what’s not to like? The same controls flank the unit, with the bottom row of dials mostly dedicated to control of the liquis settings while Gain, Frequency and Q dials allow control of the EQ, along with the EQ Band Select button, which cycles through the bands.

We’ve always been a fan of this on Liquid Mix as Focusrite has taken it seriously. Each one of the 16 mono plug-ins can be a different compressor and hybrid EQ, chosen from a list of forty compressors and twenty EQs, representing both vintage and modern “classic” analog processors. Here was a FireWire-based desktop box, which co-ordinated with a set of plug-ins to unleash a brand new technology: Focusrite first utilized “Dynamic Convolution” in their Liquid Channelwhereby actual hardware compressors and equalizers were sampled at multiple settings, with each sample being linked to the various hardware control settings.
