On my machine which is an ACER G laptop everything works fine – I’ve got the appropriate module installed in the system snd -hda -intel However, there’s a trap in this – Sound works perfectly but only with external speakers or headphones plugged in, otherwise the system seems to be rather muted, but no channel is. Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux? I try anything change volume, use pulseaudio, use oss, etc Run alsamixer to pump up the sound levels and I was good to go. Email me about changes to this bug report. Download full text 8. I’ve followed instructions at link:

The main volume was automatically un-muted. I am also getting no sound in Gutsy Beta with this sound card. I think this should be fixed right away since I use a package distro and don’t tend to mess up my system with installing from source.
Anyone know how to force the kernel to load the newer version I’ve compiled?

This is the recommended configuration, don’t emerge alsa-driver. Compiling manually, and patching with the patch from the alsa bugtracker, and specifying a model to the module, works for me.

Generic 11c1 ID So, the idh8 reboot still fails and generates a large number of symbol mismatch errors in kern. Not having sound is surprisingly annoying.
